My grandfather also likes to point to the Second World War to show how wonderful American intervention is (he is a huge Bush supporter). Mind you, having been in central Europe during that particular period in history it means a bit more to him than the empty words Bush is spouting. And unlike Bush, my grandfather does not forget the Russian soldiers that would stop in his parent’s pub for half an hour to eat before rushing off to the front.

I would say to Bush the same thing I say to my grandfather: what America did during WWII was great. I have nothing but respect for their war effort at that time. But that was 60 years ago. The world has changed quite a bit since then and so has America. What was in the past is in the past. Bush is not Roosevelt just like Hussein is not Hitler.

I think they should clean up their own backyard and make sure “freedom” means the same thing in practice as it does on paper before they go dictating to other countries how they think they should run themselves.
