I wholeheartedly believe that engaging in play is one of the most valuable and enriching acts we can do. Jane McGonigal wrote a masterful defence of —and testament to— games and play as tools for personal and social change.
Reality Is Broken had been on my virtual to-read pile for a couple years and this weekend I read through it. Every chapter had memorable passages, important insights and inventive projects. This book is filled with rallying calls to use games to increase altruism, empathy and engagement in the world. I was left giddy with enthusiasm for both the writing and the work it inspires.
This is the one book I will be recommending to anyone who cares about having a positive impact on our future world.
