I started playing Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! when it was released and was enchanted. I set it aside while traveling and picked it up again last week. Having finished the story, I’m very satisfied with the experience. The new catching mechanics make for a much less frustrating experience, and other quality of life improvements like keeping HMs retired make this the ideal way to play Pokémon. The pacing for the game is much better than previous ones in the series.
The visuals are great and overall make exploring Kanto feel fresh. There were many moments where I was revisiting familiar places or seeing game events I’ve gone through countless times but was taken aback by the new impact it had.
I’m looking forward to the next Pokémon game this year, but definitely want more of the Let’s Go model for remakes.

For the past few months I’ve been playing through Pokemon Orange Islands, a ROM hack of Pokémon FireRed that follows the season of the anime set in the Orange Islands and not depicted in the official games.
