Cities, Architecture & Utopia

I’ve been making my way through the archives of the Utopian Horizons podcast and one of the early gems is Cities, Architecture & Utopia w/ Darran Anderson. The episode dives into some fascinating territories, touching on actual cities, fiction genres and media, and utopias. One piece that stood out was a discussion about how all architecture, much like all cities, comes out of imaginary work.

Darran Anderson, author of the book Imaginary Cities, joins the podcast to talk about cities, architecture, and utopianism. We talk about coffin cubicles, mile high towers, the problem with smart cities, and a whole lot more.

Utopian Horizons is a podcast about utopias, real and imaginary. Each episode covers a different utopia, dystopia, utopian thinker, or utopian movement, asking what they can tell us about ourselves, our society, and our future.
