Wii U Memories

The Wii U was an important system to me, even though it certainly wasn’t a commercial success. It was the primary gaming and watching device in my home when I shared a house with a bunch of lovely people. We watched a lot of Netflix, and I played a lot of Xenoblade Chronicles X, still one of my absolute favourite games.

Nintendo recently announced it will be closing both the 3DS and Wii U eShops next year. That’s bad for game preservation but thankfully pirates have done good work for prefiguration of a future where all games are available.

As a way to recognize the impending end of the ability to purchase digital games for the systems, Nintendo created a tool to view usage on each system.

I don’t play the system much now, but there are still a bunch of fantastic games that haven’t yet been ported to other systems. I’ll keep this around until I can play those elsewhere.
