Ikaros

This week I read Gani Riel Cabezas’ Ikaros for my weekly Filipino komik on Penlab. It’s a short story about connection and responsibility. The creator writes it was done as a “speedrun” but even so the art is expressive and the comic holds together well.

There was a time I envied birds. They had the gift of flight, and we did not. With a pair of wings, I thought, one could simply fly away from the turmoils of the earth. But maybe I was wrong. “Ikaros” is a short comic reflecting on home, migration, and our responsibility to our land and to each other.
