I’m settled in a bit at my new address on the fediverse, with some lingering bugs. It’s such a delight to find things being shared about my little obsessions.

I watched the first episode of the 1980 Astro Boy anime with Celestine tonight. It was a formative show for me, so it was fun to see her get excited in key moments. I’ve had a Tezuka-related project I’ve wanted to start for years and I’m reminded how much I’d like to have a structured reason to explore and re-explore everything Tezuka created.
I’ve listened to All About Android every week for more than a decade and I’m sad the show has now ended. I’ll miss having the hosts in my ear regularly and will definitely feel disconnected from what happens in the Android world.
Mention of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves from someone I follow reminded me that the entirety of his Only Revolutions audiobook is available on YouTube, probably the best way to take in the two narratives.
I remember he asked readers to suggest moments from history for inclusion in the print book, and the Halifax Explosion was included from my suggestion.
Waypoints is the latest print and play game from Postmark Games. I loved what they did with their two previous games, Voyages and Aquamarine, and this looks like a lot of fun. The game is about going on a hike through a park, and its simple mechanics and beautiful design make it a great scalable game (it lists 1-100 players). At £4 (~$7 CAD) on Kickstarter it’s great value.
When I was a kid, my parents would get boxes with dozens of frozen Jamaican patties and I would devour them. Getting a locally made fresh one today brought me back to when this was a staple for me.
We spent some time at Philippine Fiesta today at the Garrison Grounds. Celestine was keen to visit the Public Gardens and their ducks, so we went over there for a while before returning to catch a bit of a fashion show.
