It has been a busy week for me, but it has been nice to have the fediverse for checking in on what is happening and catching little gems.

AEW All In closed on such a high note. Keeping MJF and Cole babyface was the right call. There’s so much chemistry there.
Earlier in the card I was disappointed Shida lost her title so quickly; she’s the wrestler I want to see the women’s division booked around and I find all The Outcasts terribly boring.
I was surprised The Bucks didn’t get the win over FTR, but stripping them of the belts after the criminal charges against Wheeler might have been too obvious a result.
I’m hoping we get the Takeshita and Omega match soon. Putting their singles match at All Out next week would be great.
My City23 entry for today was my second obvious homage to a favourite author in that project. Charles de Lint had a nod with a character named after one of his, and my café today was about as obviously a mirror of Spider Robinson’s Callahan’s Place as could be.
I loved many of his novels and his Spider on the Web podcast was my favourite for years. He has a blog he updates now and then, but hasn’t released a new podcast in a decade or novel in 14 years. I miss the best of what he created. His emphasis on empathy and connection was so important to me when I started reading his books. His books with his wife Jeanne, the Stardance trilogy, were thrilling to me.
Reminded of how much he meant to me, I plan to fit in something by Spider into my reading or listening time soon.
We finally visited Xena’s Bread and Butter this weekend. The 2D café is covered with drawings, many which mashup Canadian and Filipino images. The red bean buns Tonet and I both ordered were delicious but the environment was the star here.
Celestine liked her pastry, but the chess board intrigued her most at Xena’s.
AEW firing CM Punk after he continually antagonized his coworkers, caused problems, and assaulted people feels like such a relief. I can only imagine the people who had to work with him feel it tenfold.
I came back to wrestling after decades of not following it and loved the AEW experience. The early pandemic shows were special and solidified my love for what the wrestlers were creating.
CM Punk made the on screen experience worse for me as a fan of what had been happening before him and I’m hoping that not having him sucking all the air out of the room will give some more deserving performers the TV time they deserve and have been denied.
