Stickfigures

“And I write about me, and there’s this whole world, and yet, I close it out.”

I received the CD Stickfigures fromTerami Hersch tonight when my father arrived to move most of my stuff back home. I’ve listened to it 4 or 5 times now and I’m so very impressed. All of the songs have a real strength that is only amplified by their rough edges(they were each recorded in one take). This approach gave an intimacy to the CD that I haven’t encountered in many others. The last album which I first listened to which had this much instant connection and impact was Poe’s Haunted. It’s high praise but easily deserved. It was hard to pick those stand-out tracks on the album since they are all really well done, but so far “Happier Without You”, “Song Without A Name”, “Boxes”, “Stained” and “The Confession Song”(yes, half the CD) are tracks I’ve really been enjoying. If you haven’t already, I really encourage you to visit Terami’s wedsite at http://www.terami.com/ , listen to some of the songs she has available on her website, and discover an amazing artist who I’m sure you’ll be hearing a lot more about in the next year once her new album is released.
