The Closed Road

The Closed Road

Waking from the drowning
From the dream of you
Knowing I’m being carried
Too far from all you are

I’m wishing for your eyes
To see into me again
Longing for your touches
And their blessing cool

The vision’s sleep gone
Only the hurt of distance
The water’s not around me
Merely lines of raindrops

The roar, it takes my ears
The lights flash and blind
Skin numb from the cloth
Stays so in the journey

Living in a dark hollow
Chasing the ghosts within
Wishing for the truer real
Of the depths moon-lit

Fingers and the thin leaf
Unknown amid our goodbyes
With words searing hope
Upon the red, still motion

Words wrapping true gifts
Promises of reality dreamed
Validation of the nights
Past and yet to begin
