We picked Nathan up around 11 and arrived in the parking lot between the physics building and Howe Hall by 12.
We called a bunch of numbers to try to see some places but by 5 we had only reached two places. At 5:30 we went to one near the Sub… WOW, you need to hear the story here, it’s strange:
We walked up to the door, rang the bell and a man came out and asked us what program at Dal we’re in and stuff like that. Of course we mentioned that we take COMPUTER SCIENCE. He was leading us around back and then asked, “Will you be having computers here?” Of course we said yes… then he said, “Well, I’m sorry but you can’t stay here then. I don’t want any trouble with the RCMP(cops)” Nathan, my father and I just said ok and left. That was such an odd, odd man…
Next we went to the place that sounded like the best out of all the ones we had looked at:
Beech St $325.00 Monthly
Available Sep 01, 2002. Posted for 7 day(s).
House. Accommodation has 4 bedrooms in total with 2 available.
Water included.
2 Bedrooms available in a four bedroom house just off Quinpool road. Less than ten minutes walk from Dal campus. $325 monthly plus electricity (roughly $35), phone, internet and cable (combined $25). Very large, mostly furnished. Email/phone for info.
Everything was very up front in the ad but we had trouble reaching Simon, the guy in charge of showing the place and picking the person to get it. We finally reached him around 5:15… The Dad drove us to Beech St. and we went to look around.
Simon seemed like a cool guy… He was actually in my winter Computer Science class last year, which was a cool coincidence(it only had 18 or so people in it). He’s in his second year at Dal like Nathan and I…
Anyway, the place seemed great. To get into it we had to go up a flight of stairs… on that floor was a nice large living room, a washroom, kitchen, dining room and the room of one of the guys who is staying there currently. Everything was pretty basic but nice. Simon has the house networked for computers and has one computer hooked up to the tv so we’d be able to watch DVD’s and downloaded movies on it. Then we went up another staircase to the second floor(really the third because the apartment started one floor up). There they have 3 rooms, his on the left, the one I’m hoping to get and another beside that. The room was certainly bigger than my one from residence last year and had some artwork scattered around it. Obviously the guy staying there is an artist.
Overall the place seemed pretty much prefect in price and people. Simon said there will be him and two girls in the other three rooms. They’re all second year students like myself so it’d be great if I can get this place. Simon mentioned that he’d had mostly older or creepy people there so far… maybe that’ll help my chances. He had a couple more people interested in seeing it so he said he will contact me tomorrow and tell me what he has decided. *fingers crossed for this one*
Nathan thinks he will try to get a place he looked at on Chestnut St. that is just seconds from Dal. Hopefully we’ll both get the places we want. I’d really hate to have to go through more hassles to find a place.
After that we dropped Nathan off at a gas station so his grandmother could pick him up. Then Dad and I went to eat and came home.
I NEED MORE LUCK SEND IT MY WAY! 😉
