Calm Dark and Stinging Light

I went for a walk tonight. The night sky was dark but starless, as always is the case here. I walked along the sidewalk towards Quinpool, seeing the lonely street lights and the lights from many homes… all a dull glow. Then there were the too-bright stop lights, walk lights, go lights and lights of caution… Blinking and flashing too often and too much bursts of annoyance. Then came Quinpool and its money lights, the millions served and false freshness proclamed in fire.

So what really happened?

I walked to Video Difference and looked around for something that would grab my attention… I focused especially on the foreign films, but nothing really appealed to me. Then I looked in the “documentaries” section and found the No Alternative VHS.
It’s “A Benefit For AIDS Education and Relief”. I’ve had the CD for years now and I’m sure the video is also great. It has songs and live performances by Matthew Sweet, Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, Luscious Jackson, Sarah McLachlan, The Breeders, Goo Goo Dolls and Suede.
On the way down to the bottom floor I looked at the horror section and picked up Rose Red. I missed it while it was on TV so I’ll watch it in the next couple days.
On the way back I stopped at a corner store and got a 220g bag of Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn and 2L of Barq’s.
I’ve eaten over half of the bag since I got back. That stuff is far too addictive!!! Barq’s goes very well with it too. 🙂
