BBS Rant

Here’s a most I made on a BBS I frequent. It was in a thread about the “war” on Iraq. It’s sickening to see how many people are so much for war. War is never a good thing. NEVER!

I think the line of people in the “educated community” is not as favourable for Bush as you think. Businesses like the plan because wars like this are good for oil interests(the true reason Bush wants a war). However, it’s likely that more Americans will be killed in an attempt to take out Saddam (because it’ll be urban combat and the Iraqis have a huge advantage of home turf) than have died in terror attacks.
It will be as pointless and wasteful war as Vietnam was. Many INNOCENT Iraqis will be killed in a war like this, that’s a given as well. The bottom line is that the cost of lives alone outweighs any benefits. All that money being spent on war could improve home defence, education(which is horrible there from all I’ve heard, the US doesn’t even rank in the top 15 best educated countries in numerous polls), healthcare, the hurting economy, THE ENVIRONMENT!, injustices in the US government system(like votes not being counted and tremendously poor voter turnout), and a ton of other needs that Bush ignores in favour of a war.

War is hell. We should have learned that. Diplomacy and defence is always better than an unwarranted attack. Sure, Iraq has made huge mistakes, but the US has made at least as many.

Bin Laden himself was trained by the CIA! That’s a huge error on the US government’s part, because look how well he has been able to attack around the world. The US is to blame for terrorism as much as Iraq in many ways. Through funding terrorist organizations when it serves US interest and allowing american businesses to use unmoral practices abroad the US government has only encouraged terrorism, until now, that is, when it’s advantageous to start a war.

Read that.

After the threat of Iraq destroying Kuwaiti oil became clear eight days later, the U.S. began “Operation Desert Storm” hitting Iraq with the equivalent in explosive power of seven nuclear bombs, and killing between 100,000 and 200,000 Iraqis. The U.S. continued numerous missile strikes against Iraq throughout the 1990s.
