Yay for a higher Canadian dollar. It makes buying stuff from the US a more viable option, and I do need to pick up a few indie CD’s soon.

Vancouver has again come in second in a worldwide quality of life survey of 215 cities by the international consulting firm Mercer Human Resource Consulting.
Vancouver (which tied with Vienna and Geneva) lost top honours to Zurich for the second year in a row.
Other Canadian cities also ranked high in Mercer’s survey. Toronto was 12th (up from 18th place last year), Ottawa was in 20th spot (from 25th in the 2002 survey), Montreal was 23rd (25th last year), and Calgary 26th (31st last year).
Overall quality of life rankings, which consider factors like political, natural and economic environments, again placed Zurich as the best place to situate workers.
Other factors considered in the quality of life survey were medical standards, public services and transportation, education, the quality of recreational activities and housing.
“Canadian cities are the safest in North America, due to strict law enforcement and low crime rates,” Mercer said.
Overall, the top U.S. city was San Francisco, tied for 20th spot. London came in 39th and Rome was 68th.
Mercer said its rating of Scandinavian cities fell because of “evidence relating to seasonal affective disorders caused by shorter daylight hours.” Oslo, for instance, fell from 15th spot to 31st.
The worst city to live and work was Brazzaville Congo. Baghdad came in not much better ā 213th spot.

Not surprising at all, it’s one of the US cities I would most like to visit some day. Plus it’s one of the smarter cities politically, since the city passed a motion opposing war.

I may not always agree with you but were all human and I would be happy debating anything you like face to face.

I certainly am always open to talking about any issues, and I’d be sure to listen because the more views one knows of other views the better one can form their own with confidence.
I guess it was just a genreal feeling of Anti-American Sentiment..for a while I thought it was directed at the general whole of American people, I figured it was at the government after a while.
Since it was in such a time where the American people have such a need for guidance and options, not many were being given to them and so many of us feel dejected and angry. Don’t get me wrong either I don’t agree with my government in fact it isn’t even mine. I voted for Nader!
There are a lot of emotions running high now. I work in a very political place. The energy is high, the hope low. But there’s hope. Even if it felt like it was being quashed.
I agree that Canada is a good place, but I agree more that USA kicks ass on so many intricate levels.
The one thing that has helped me throguh all this war shit is the help of friends, the HUGE PROTESTS!!!! and a love for my degenrate country.

I’m sorry you got the impression that I have any anti-American feelings. I just hate what the American government and big business(for they are inseperable now) has done to harm your country and the world. I’m opposed to evil dictators no matter where they rule.
I agree that there is a need for guidance and other options. I wish they could become more apparant to people. The media seems intent of blocking that, though.
I know it must be very stressful to live in such an environment. It is even here, knowing there will be a great impact on all the world if Evil Dictator Bush gets his war. And of course knowing so many Americans who are very dear to me, I worry for them and wish for their safety.
I have nothing but respect for people who have been involved in the protests and have actually tried to be heard. It’s a huge comfort to know that there is dissent and that not everyone has been fooled. I have not been able to participate in protests here yet, but I fully intend to be at the next one and any following ones I am able to attend.
I agree that the US has many strengths. Many of my closest friends are Americans, and of course Ashley, so I know most Americans are good people. Much of the art I enjoy is American, and many places I visited in the US have left a huge positive impact on me. I fear a loss of many of the good things about America and all the world will result from the current ruling regime. That is why have such a strong belief of opposition to American government, because of my love for America, Canada and the world.
