I arrived at the library around 5 to see the entire lawn covered with people from all walks of life. After some announcements we walked down the streets, the entire thousand plus turnout(I’m not sure of the exact numbers). There were chants, of course. Nothing elaborate, just the standards.
When I say Peace, you say Now.

It was amazing to see the streets filled with like-minded people. As far as I could see in front and behind me were people walking in protest of this horrible and unjust war. It was a long march, but eventually we all made it to the US Consolate and filled the square below their building. There opposition was stated in speaches, and the next rally Saturday @ 1 on the Commons announced. The plan is to continue and expand efforts until the war is stopped.
I returned home knowing I had done my small part, and though I know it was not much, I feel I have started fulfilling my duty to humanity.

Please, if you believe this war is unjust then do something to stop it. We can not stand by and allow innocents to die from bombs, bullets and starvation.
In a counter note, I know a lot of you dislike hearing about war. I respect this, so I’ve made a filter so you don’t have to read it. Just let me know and you won’t read the war posts.

i’m sorry if my post was in some way responsible for your filter.. I will explain myself further:
It’s not that I don’t want to hear about the war. I just decided not to write about it because I have a friend who is very affected by this right now, in a somewhat direct way. He spent two weeks in a hospital after being hurt in the 9/11 attacks and now he’s very afraid for his life again… and everywhere he turns there are people talking about the war. He can’t watch tv or go to the newsstand… he is afraid to even leave his house… He was getting over it and really starting to move on with his life, and put his life back together… just started going back to work… and then the war breaks out, and he’s petrified of terrorist attacks again…
Now, I decided to stop writing about the war on my journal, because he likes to read it, and I don’t want reading my journal to be one more thing he’s afraid to look at.
But I think it’s great that you’re posting info about the war and the efforts people are making to make a difference in the effort for peace. I just wanted you to know how I felt about this, and I’m sorry if my decision upset you in anyway. I just thought I’d take a moment to explain.
No, it was actually a bunch of other people who made me decide to do this.
I understand about having a friend who is effected by this. That’s one reason I am doing what I do. I have a friend who’s family is in great danger from American bombs and troops, as I wrote about in a previous post.
I really hope your friend will be able to deal well with the events happening. I know it’s scary for everyone, and must be especially so for him. I hope for his sake and the rest of the world that this war can be stopped and thus decrease the risk of terror attacks.
I fully respect the decision of anyone to leave their journals free of war talk, and I know you did it for a very valid reason.
