Sometimes The Magic Works

“The muse whispers to you when she chooses, and you can’t tell her to come back later, bacause you quickly learn in this business that she might not come back at all.”

“I have decided, on reflection, it is best just to remember that sometimes the magic really works.”

“I cannot imagine life without books any more than I can imagine life without breathing.”

– Terry Brooks

I’ve started reading Sometimes The Magic Works by Terry Brooks today. It’s been an inspiring and insightful read. Reading about a writer’s life is something that has much meaning for me, since writing has long been a passion I’ve had. Please check out his site here and read my favorite 3 books he has published, Running with the Demon, A Knight of the Word and Angel Fire East. You’re missing out if you haven’t read these yet.

Speaking of writers, I’m talking with one of my favorites, my wonderful inspired disciple, Alisha, right now.

Today was the first day back at work. I cleaned up some brush, swept sand off the driveway, cut back some plants, cleaned the garage and a handful of other things as I was dampened in ever increasing amounts.

It was nice to see Ellie and Lucy again though. My co-workers rock! And not just because one is my aunt and the both get me hamburgers on Thursdays. 😉

Tomorrow’s working schedule is still up in the air depending on the weather conditions tomorrow. No sense in working in the rain when much of the tasks ahead are involved with fixing up flood damage and mess.

When I came home I had some mail. 😀

The lovely Ms. Alisha Parker suggested, or rather insisted, that I listen to Molly some time ago. I finally ordered the CD just before returning to the sticks and I’m certainly very happy that I did. These albums are real masterpieces. Haunting, deep, resonate, and genre weaving in a way that is very fresh and at the same time filled with a sense of myth and history(or perhaps that last bit is just my own projections from the emotions I experience). In any case these are both beautiful works that are worth every cent. I highly suggest(no, I urge) that you invest in these pieces of audio magic. At least step into her website and listen there.

I talked with Ashley for a short while this afternoon. The days cannot pass quickly enough until she arrives here in Nova Scotia again. I miss her in ever growing amounts with each note of the time-song, the unending bridge, over dry and flooding stream.

  1. It does seem a little futile fixing flood damage while it is raining….. I just hope the hole doesn’t come back in our road 😉
I’ll be getting some of Molly’s stuff tonight.

I am hopefully gonna get a job soon 🙂 I really don’t care what type of job it is right now, I just need the money so I can start saving for my Guitar makeing course and a trip to Japan.
