Yes, same sex marriages are to be legal here at last! After so much bullshit, it’s about time that it became fully accepted, for there is absolutely no reason to oppose it. Love is love and should be recognized as such.

And actually, they aren’t legal “here”, just in Ontario.
It’s going to become legal nation-wide soon, because there is no way it can be opposed rationally (we are not a nation based only on Christianity and we have to realize that marriage is not a Christian concept but a universal one).
Besides, most MP’s support the ruling, especially the more important ones.
Although I agree with you, I doubt it will be legal nation wide anytime soon. Besides, when have politicians ever listen to anything rational? 🙂 Several provinces (most notably Alberta) have said that they’ll use the notwithstanding clause to overrule the courts.
MPs (even the “important” ones) are pretty split on it, and even so, the most important MP, our Prime Minister, opposed it at one point (he hasn’t commented on it recently, atleast that I’ve read). Our next PM, Paul Martin supports it though… so maybe it does have a chance.

Yeah, I expect so too. The trend seems to be a more left-leaning nation (and that looks to be headed to a greater incread with the jumps in non-religious young people in our nation), so that will definitely help with voter support.

I think partial birth should be done if it threatens the life of both the child and the mother or just the mother. Better one death than two.
I do think it shouldn’t be a whim thing, but I also hold that for abortion in general. Unless there’s a real reason for abortion then I think it’s not entirely justified.

I was very very very happy when I read this. the thing that pissed me off was that on the hareld today they had to print a story explaining why they picked the picture where the gay couple was kissing for their front page colour photo.
