101 Revelations (00 – 20)

The goal? Come up with a list of 101 things about your self. Be honest, and try to be as revealing as you can. The only stipulation is you have to have 101 and you can’t repeat yourself.

My silly disciple Wanda took this challenge, and now I too have accepted it. Here goes.

00) Between grades five and six I travelled across North America with my parents and my younger sister. It was likely one of the periods of time that influenced my life most.
01) I’ve always been quite a book worm.
02) In my childhood I remember being excited by choose your own adventure books.
03) Lego was long my favourite toy. Even today I think it is one of the most valuable toys a child can own.
04) I live an increasingly minimalistic life. One sign of this is that there is only one thing attatched to my wall, a photograph of Poe that she wrote on and sent to me.
05) I’m a socialist. I believe the selfishness inherent in capitalism is very damaging, and that truely compassionate community is the best environment in which to live.
06) I believe equality and diversity are both very important aspects of a healthy society.
07) I try to follow news as closely as I can. I am interested and often disgusted by politics and popular opinion.
08) I have a great love for nature. The clear cutting of a forest I once called home brought tears to my eyes like any other tragedy.
09) Music is an art form that I find highly emotive. I listen to music constantly, and I am always in search of new music to experience.
10) During my teen years I read mostly fantasy in my free time. Now I find I tend more towards books on spirituality and books such as On The Road which call to be read.
11) I have a patchwork of spiritual beliefs. I firmly believe that spirituality must be something discovered on one’s own, without any pressure from any religion.
12) I’m filled with wanderlust. I always wish to be traveling the world, experiencing new places and meeting new people.
13) I have a sincere goal of eventually being able to fit everything I own into the trunk of a car or a similar space.
14) The only drugs I choose to use are coffee and toothpaste. I have no need for any others.
15) I’ve never been greatly social. I find it to be far more rewarding to spend time talking with groups of no more than seven people (and better yet one) at a time, because it allows for a greater intimacy.
16) Cats have long been my favourite domesticated animals. There’s something about them that I find very calming and reassuring.
17) I find digital archiving of physical documents and photos to be a rewading experience, and also one of comfort, knowing that I can have those images and texts with me when I travel light.
18) For several years I had a great affinity for the cold. I would leave my window open every day of the year and was not bothered by the winter chill. Now I do enjoy heat considerably more.
19) I had a tendency to have crushes on girls who were best friends through much of my youth. I’m sure there was some psychological reason for it.
20) Parsboro is my favourite location in Nova Scotia. The rocky beaches there enchanted me from an early age and to this day I often recall and am calmed by memories of that beautiful place.
