The House

I still get nightmares. In fact I get them so often I should be used to them by now. I’m not. No one ever really gets used to nightmares. (audio)

Today I ordered a first edition, three-colored, hard cover edition of House of Leaves. My original, paperback copy has been missing at my friend Wanda’s place for many months and I’ve had a need to reread the most moving and haunting book I’ve ever encountered, so I had to get a new copy. I opted for hard cover because it’s a book I’ll be rereading for the rest of my life. It’s the sort of book that never exhausts itself, never runs out of layers to explore. If there was such a thing as a perfect book this would be it. I’ll soon be back in its hallways.
