Soft Revolution

“We are here to take the blame, to take the taunts and live the shame. We are here to make you feel. It terrifies you, but it’s real. It will keep you up all night, and in the flood of morning light spilling out across your room you’ll say the words, ‘We’ll get there soon.'”

“And after changing everything, they coudn’t tell we couldn’t sing and that changes everything”

“Soft Revolution” – Stars

“I think that there is something about the moment you commit to things in life… What is it that brings people to those moments of transgression, those moments of revelation?” The notion of revelation through love leads to what can be considered Stars’ ideology behind the album, that of the “soft revolution.” Campbell describes the “soft revolution” as “a way of describing something that happens inside you when you decide that you can be saved by love. Revolutions tend to be violent and disruptive and I think that for so long people have tried to solve problems by revolutions outside themselves, in society, and people don’t think about having a revolution inside themselves. If everybody had a personal revolution and rose up against the parts of themselves that were destructive and dark and filled with hate that that would really create an enormous change in the world.”
