I think the ‘it’ thing in self-mastery is still ‘The Secret’ – or at least self-help – perhaps you mean something different. Anyway, haven’t read the book, but the DVD is interesting……
I have a lot of misgivings about The Secret myself. There is a lot of narcissism and confused thinking tied up with the movement that I’ve seen pointed out by the people I most respect in the self-help / self-mastery field. What was it that you took away from the DVD?
That we often defeat ourselves by thinking negatively, and that gratitude is important. I can see how there would be a lot to critisize, but I feel there’s at least a core of truth in the positive-thinking aspect of it…..
