TERRY BROOKS!!!!

I met TERRY BROOKS!!! πŸ˜€ I can’t begin to tell you all how great an experience that was. I’ve been reading his books since I was 12!

I arrived at MSVU around 6:30 and found the building I needed to… then I went up, gave the woman my ticket and sat down… it was a pretty basic setup… a table with his books on it for the signing and a podium for him to read at.

I sat there for an hour or so before he finally came in. One nice thing about the entire event was that everyone there was a big fan of his books, and gave him a great welcome for the mere 100+ people who attended.

He began by reading a piece from the next Shannara (shan-uh-ruh, not shan-air-a) series… it was great… He didn’t read long, however, and started taking questions which led to stories of his life and great insight into his works. I’ll be sure to pick up And Sometimes The Magic Works, his book of writing and life as a writer when it comes out. Mr. Brooks is really an amazing person and writer! πŸ˜€ He did mention that he’ll do at least 3 more Word & Void books, and even a new Landover one… I can’t wait for those… but it will be at least 3 years. πŸ™

After the speaking portion I got in line and waited for my turn to have my book signed… I was kinda nervous… I didn’t know what to say to him… when I finally got up there Terry was really nice. He asked my name and then asked what I had been reading lately. I told him I have been reading a lot of Charles de Lint and he said he had met Charles and is a fan of his work, saying he’s very talented and he mentioned his folk singing. It was very cool to have a conversation with someone who has been my hero for so long.

He then signed my book with:

To Apollo
Escape Into Your Dreams
Terry Brooks
10/02

πŸ˜€ I’ll have a full scan up tomorrow… I’m still so happy to have met him…

I then left, called my parents to talk about tomorrow and then I got on the bus and came home to talk to Ashley πŸ˜€
