Bowling for Columbine

To summarize before I go futher: GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!

Bowling for Columbine was a brilliant documentary. It sheds light on so many facts that most of us simply ignore about violence not only in the US, but globally.

I wish everyone in the US would watch this movie. It sheds so much light on why America has the highest number of gun deaths on the earth. The excuses about why that is are all so easily dismantled. Other countries are exposed to just as many of the same things that are commonly given as excuses… The facts that business, government and the rich are promoting this is made quite clear. The film highlighted the government’s horrible attrocities abroad and in the US itself that have gone on for centuries… The use of fear to control society was nicely exposed…

I found the contrasts made with Canada to be quite amusing. How Canadians leave doors unlocked, even in large cities, or how we just don’t respond violently to confrontation, to our political climate as a whole that is anti-violence and anit-war… How 7/10 households have guns, yet we have a far less rate of homicide.

If people could see this film, I know it would open a lot of eyes… even if they just noticed that the government is responsible for terrorism more than any other nation…

And the overwhelming sense of thankfulness to live in such a safe, fearless and free nation after seeing that was both comforting and also a bit disconcerting, because if we let our guard down it could become like that here.

FEAR becomes ANGER becomes VIOLENCE.

All anger is caused by fear.

The angry and violent are all scared.
