US back in nuclear bomb-making business
April 24 2003
The United States says it has regained the capability to make nuclear weapons for the first time in 14 years and has resumed production of plutonium parts for bombs.
The Energy Department’s announcement on Tuesday marks a symbolic and operational milestone in rebuilding America’s nuclear weapons complex, which began a long retrenchment in the late 1980s as the Cold War ended and the toll of environmental damage from bomb production became known.
Under a Bush Administration plan, the Energy Department will begin limited production of plutonium parts for the country’s stockpile of nuclear weapons and begin laying plans for a new factory that could produce parts for hundreds of weapons a year.
The Energy Department’s previous Rocky Flats site in Colorado was shut down after serious violations of environmental laws and the FBI raided the plant.

N. Korea admits it has nuclear weapons
In talks with the U.S., North Korea has admitted having nuclear weapons, sources close to the negotiations said. News of the North Korean claim came as a summit meeting between the United States, Pyongyang and China wound down in Beijing today.
The new arms race begins. One more thing to fight against in this New World Disorder.
Despite the controversy — or perhaps because of it — the Chicks remain one of the top draws in all of pop music.
Though the group’s song “Travelin’ Soldier,” which was No. 1 on Billboard’s country charts around the time Maines made the remark, fell off the charts, sales of the group’s CD, “Home,” picked up after an initial dip.
The album has been out since late summer, selling more than 6 million copies. It hit No. 1 on Billboard’s album chart and has spent 19 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s country album chart.
Most of the shows on the tour already had sold out before Maines’ comments. The band’s agent, Rob Light, was unavailable for comment Wednesday but told Billboard this week that of the 59 shows, only six have seats left and those are all 85 percent to 90 percent sold.
“The Dixie Chicks have taken a big hit lately for exercising their basic right to express themselves,” wrote Springsteen — who has been touring overseas. “For them to be banished wholesale from radio stations, and even entire radio networks, for speaking out is un-American. The pressure coming from the government and big business to enforce conformity of thought concerning the war and politics goes against everything that this country is about — namely freedom.”

I’ve never been a big fan of either’s music, but I must say I respect both the Dixie Chicks and Bruce Springsteen for taking a stand and not being afraid to stand by their words.

Lt. Gen. David McKiernan, commander of ground forces in Iraq, plans to issue a proclamation reminding Iraqi politicians that coalition forces are the sole authority in the country until a new government is put in place
Now Bush and Co. are worried their occupation might not work out the way they planned. It seems most Iraqis are not buying the lies of the people who bombed them and were responsible for their lack of food for so long. They want to be free from foreign rulers as soon as possible, and that is certainly their right!
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia (CNN) — The first criminal charge for bringing objects allegedly looted from Baghdad into the United States has been filed against a television network employee whom authorities said tried to smuggle paintings taken from one of Saddam Hussein’s presidential palaces.
Meanwhile in Baghdad, four U.S. soldiers are being held on allegations of stealing several hundred thousand dollars of illicit cash from the millions found by U.S. forces in the Baghdad bungalows of senior members of Saddam’s regime, Pentagon sources told CNN Wednesday.
Gotta love occupation!
The true war is on between Bush’s American Empire, New World Order, Globalization and uncontrolled Capitalism and the forces of Peace, Compassion, Truth, Global Responsibility and True World Order (where all people have the basics of life, where people rule with compassion and not big business with wealth). The enemy has their forces ready, and it’s time for the world to gather with our own. It’s time to take back media, take back government, and heal a world being scarred by greed.

I made a few icons… of you! hehehe…
I was going to just post em in your community, but I thought I’d ask permission first. 🙂
lol go ahead 🙂 I can’t wait to see what you’ve done
ouch.
ouch?
i’d say hell yeah for sticking by their opinion, but it seems that after she made that statement about bush and they chicks were getting really bad press they took back what they said, so they couldn’t have meant it that much. ::Sigh:: Guess their careers are more important than their beleifs.
Conor
Yeah, that was something that was unclear to me. It seems from what I’ve read that the step back was because of death threats.
If some right-wing nutcase is saying he’s gonna kill me for my beliefs I might rethink letting them be known publicly.
Hmm, agreed, but I think it’s sort of pussying out of them to “take it back.” I mean you have to admit it did seem like they did because of the negative reactions they were receiving and the bad press, but if they say it’s cause of death threats than more power I guess.
If I get the chance I will send you some things Marilyn Manson had to say about the war. Alot of people underestimate that man’s intelligence, I mean it is right up there. I was just blown away with what he had to say, it was so articulate. I will try to find it for you.
Conor
I have a lot of respect for Marilyn and I’d certainly like to see what he has said.
Omg he’s a fucking genious. He knows what to say at the right time and he keeps your attention by not offending either side of an arguement, but clearly states his position and point
ok for some reason it wont let me copy and paste what he wrote in his journal so check mine after you get this.
Conor
yeah he really is a genious…
I read his book cover to cover, and although I don’t listen to his music like I used to, I still try to keep up on what he has to say about various issues. He always has such a unique and HONEST perspective on current events…
Great mind!
Would it be possible for you to maybe post a link on my lj in the comments to where i can read some of his opinions? I’d really appreciate it!
Thanks…
i saw them on tv for a minute or two, and i have no clue what’s going on with the Dixie Chicks. i just saw people smashing their records..
that’s really sad. I may disagree with many artists(like Kid Rock’s pro-Bush stance), but I wouldn’t go out and destroy their works because of that.
