I’ve been searching through the remaining boxes of my belongings here im the basement. One of the relics I found was a short story I wrote in Grade 8, 9 or 10 called “Summa Perfectionis” (Summit of Perfection). I actually researched alchemy and wrote a rather impressive story for someone at that level. It was about corrupt government and the problems of wealth. Quite big thoughts for someone in his early teens, no? The ending was weak, but I do believe it still stands as a not-so-bad story.
Now everything I own is either in boxes here in the basement, or in use. Some will be sold and some will be stored away for years. My day has been one of minimalizing.
The soundtrack of this rainy day has included some Live, Elastica, Buck 65, Molly Zenobia and Collective Soul. I unearthed some tapes during my searches, so I may be playing some Goo Goo Dolls’ A Boy Named Goo tomorrow when I return from work. Another dusted off group of items was the Dune series that my father owns. It’s been added to my “must read this summer” shelf of books, but may end up as fall reading.
S.O.F.T(Same Old Fucking Thing) by Elastica is one song that’s been creeping back up my favorites list, as has the band.
