Lives as Propaganda

Here is an interesting articile revealing how the US military and government used Jessica Lynch as a tool to promote the war.

The Iraqis treated her with great respect and care, placing her well being above even some of their own patients, yet the media machine made it seem she had been injured in combat and was held prisoner, none of which was true.

The last statement by a military spokesman, “Until such time as she wants to talk — and that’s going to be no time soon, and it may be never at all” implies to me a pressure from the higher-ups to keep her quiet about the friends she made in Iraq, and the lies the military and media spread.
