Barney and Bad Metal = American Torture

Cruel Torture

Newsweek reports the U.S. military is exposing uncooperative Iraqis to long doses of heavy metal music. Sgt. Mark Hadsell said it breaks down their resistance through sleep deprivation and annoyance.

Why metal? Because it’s culturally offensive.

Hadsell said these people haven’t heard heavy metal before and they can’t take it. His personal favorites include Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and “Bodies” by Drowning Pool.

Oh, and kids songs. His other two favorites to make the resistance crumble are 24 hours straight of Barney the purple dinosaur and the “Sesame Street” theme.

The tortures keep getting worse. Holy shit, that’s some sick stuff to burden anyone with, and these poor Iraqis don’t have the tollerence for shit like Barney that we do.

    1. yeah, I think that would certainly be a terrible thing. And that’s likely just the torture for the protesters. I’d hate to see what happens to the people physically trying to remove the American soldiers from their land.

    1. I mean, I don’t like Metallica, but I could live with it. I understand how they couldn’t though… I mean if I were in there place, and they bombarded my senses with loud rap for hours on end I would go RABIDLY INSANE. Arrrgh. But at least that’s not physical harm torture.. kinda..

  1. you know whats fun? torturing me.
my dad could’ve died on monday. in riyadh. yeah, riyadh. where there is no war. you know, in saudi arabia where they are fucking pissed that someone attacked their guests. and guess who is taking care of the prisoners taken from that al Queda [spelling could be/is definately wrong] attack? the arabians themselves. not the U.S. Military, who seems to be a favorite target for anti-war protestors as of late.
i don’t care if you protest the war, but just wanted to let you know – it really does kill me to read stuff like this.

    1. I certainly understand what you believe, and I do understand where you are coming from. However, I can not justify many actions the US military has taken, under orders or not.

I will always be against agressive wars, and my stance will not waver. I know people on both sides of this conflict and I understand the reasoning behind both. I support neither and oppose both.

      1. oh hell no, there is very little i could listen to for long periods of time… i think that something like cannibal corpse or something would be more offensive to them though…

i think it’s very interesting though… instead of beating prisoners or whatever, they play them music… to me that seems like an odd thing… but interesting none the less…

        hmmm… music as a weapon… perhaps I should look into that professionally….
