Downloading Music

From Matthew Good:

Of course I had to spend some time contemplating the morality of it considering that I am, after all, a musician. But then I realized that by the time I actually paid off my debts for making all the records that I have and actually started to make money from record sales, I could have opened an Arctic Theme Park in hell. Plus, who really wants to give Led Zeppelin any more money than they already have? Jesus, the only thing left for them to afford are cryogenic chambers to keep themselves alive another 20 years to make another 20 million dollars off of re-releases.

It’s not like most musicians need the money anyway. Let’s face it, most people are taking the money they don’t spend on music and are giving it to organizations such as Unicef. Since the advent of downloading, charitable donations have skyrocketed! Now I don’t know about you, but I sleep better at night knowing that the money I would have used to buy music (and thus support some idiots coke habit) is being used to help kids all over the world hopefully someday be able to afford computers and download music themselves.

If you really stop and think about it, it’s making the world a better place for everyone. So go on, download something. The kids will thank you for it!
