…and we wake up in the breakdown…

It’s been too long, and too little of meaning has been happening since my last entry.

My life’s been full of working, and the coming days will be even more work-filled, as I will be working after dinner in the blue berry fields in addition to my usual 8:30 – 5:00 work day, and then all day during the weekend. I will certainly not be pleased with it in any way.

Tonight I raked blue berries after dinner behind my grandmother’s old house (which is now home to my uncle Gerry, his wife Sharron and their adorable kid, Hailey).

Before starting I went into the house and saw Hailey for a couple minutes. She’s so very cute. She wanted to come outside and pick berries but, in her words, “Oh no, I can’t go outside dressed like a baby” (she was in her underwear because she had just had a bath). To appease her, Courtney (my cousin who was raking with us), agreed to pick her some berries.

Outside, by the garage, my father, Courtney and I discovered a bat. I hadn’t seen one close up for years, so it was quite interesting. I picked it up and moved it to a pine near-by so that the poor thing would not be stepped on,

The berry raking is a blur and blocked from my mind, because I really dislike it far more than I wish to express.

I’ve been talking to Alisha, Wanda and Ashley tonight since my return from the fields of blue-purple-green torture. I love my wonderful disciples, and I’ll always treasure their uniqueness and caring.

The next week will be a mostly physical one, as I’ll be spending all my time doing physical labour. Sadly this will mean my posts here will be less frequent and likely not as meaningful as I would like. You can expect an improvement by the second week of September, though, as I will be back in the city of leaves.

I carry a shield and words, not a gun or a blade. I only save.
