Thursday Thumb-Twiddler

1. Civil wars, blood feuds, religious struggles — all seem intractable, difficult-to-end problems. If you were involved in such a conflict, could you ever agree to an amnesty that left unpunished the people who had murdered your friends and family?
I fully believe in forgiveness, and oppose violence, so of course I would always be willing to forgive and move on.

2. Is it more important for the government to secure freedom, prosperity, or security for its citizens?
A balance of all three is important. A society should be able to choose a government that can moderately provide each.

3. What’s the most beautiful drive you’ve ever taken? Can you describe it?
In 1994 my family took a road trip across North America for an entire summer. I was able to see many beautiful places, including the Rocky Mountains, the Redwoods and Niagra Falls. That was without a doubt the most beautiful drive I have ever experienced.
