“Still the coastline’s a mile away”

I had a great time hanging out with Wanda today despite some unfortunate surprises that hindered our full enjoyment of the day. We had plenty of candy and time spent talking and walking. Those are three things that make any day great. Wanda’s a great friend, and I’m so thankful I am able to spend time with her most weeks. What’s even better is that she may return on Wednesday for some further duck-worship and wholesome conversation.

During our adventures I was able to buy a copy of The Thorns’ self-titled album from her, since she had two. I’ve loved the album since it first was released, but had only the burned copy that Wanda had sent me. I enjoy it a great deal, and I urge each of you to listen to it if you have not yet done so. It’s a true classic.

My journal has not been updated for some time for a couple reasons. The first and most important is that a class 2 hurricane named Juan ripped through Nova Scotia and left me without electricity and internet access for 6 days. Secondly, my web host had numerous troubles that made my site unavailable for days. It was quite a unique week, and you’ll be able to read about it soon, as I kept a written diary to record my experiences.
