Red Green can be quite humourous, but I’ll admit it’s quite lame.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes is a great show satiring news broadcasts and making fun of politics in general. It’s a good watch. I highly recommend it, even though a few segments are hit and miss.
One must not forget that most of the best commedians do come from Canada. We’re a nation with a good sense of humour.
I don’t drink alcohol, but I’ll take your word that our beer is supeiour. I’ve heard it from just about everyone, so I must assume it’s true.
Canada has an overall eduction rank in the top ten of all nations worldwide. The U.S. is barely in the top 20. There’s a huge difference there, and it’s really sad. One would think the world’s richest nation would be able to educate its people better.
Canada has a much more diverse culture than that of America. We’re a more multicultural nation, as shown not only by the presence of Quebec, where French language and culture are dominant, but also in the sheer percentage of diverse heritage among our peoples. Multiculturalism and bilingualism are proven to increase not only social understanding, but also overall achievement.
I love Red Green and This Hour has 22 Minutes! I watch them all the time! I live in Detroit and we get both Global and CBC. My favorite radio show is Brave New Waves weeknights on CBC radio 2.
As for diversity, I would argue that the US is FAR more diverse. You don’t get more Multicultural than New York City. Seriously. You can go for blocks and never hear a word of English spoken.
Here in Michigan, I know areas where every one speaks Polish and others where Arabic or Italian or Chinese are dominant. There are places down south where French is common.
America is quite diverse, it’s the American media that isn’t. It you go by what you see on TV or in the movies, you would think that everyone in the US is White, Black, or Latino, and that just isn’t the case.
Overall Canada is much more diverse. It’s just a statistical fact. We’re also more urban statistically. Places like Toronto and Vancouver are as culturally diverse as New York, there are the same diverse backgrounds, and you can certainly go for blocks without English.
I certainly wasn’t going by media presentation, I’m going by statistics, personal experience and the cultures in general.

I’ve been to many cities in Canada, including Toronto, Quebec and Vancouver, but they all seemed rather White compared to Detroit or New York. However I have it admit that middle America is so damn White that it probably throws off the percentages.
Also, my experiences don’t nessisaraly reflect the over all reality. I have lived all over the US and I have always seen a very diverse population. But I have not lived in Canada (though I’ve visited hundreds of times, I live anout 30 minutes from the border) so my observations are limited.
I also lived in Germany for a few years. Europe has an amazing amount of diversity. Not suprising in an area where you can pass through half a dozen countries in in three hours. It’s amazing.
