Poe on “Subway Tokens”

Here’s what I’m getting at regarding the recruitment of new fans:

I would feel best if they could hear my music…
I can’t legally suggest that you burn copies of it and give it away, since I don’t own it. But I can say, that I love the idea!

I’m going to refer to the CDs “Haunted” and “Hello” from now on (at least regarding this little covert operation) as Subway Tolkens.

The Poeball + Journal arrive, you create a stash of your own Tolkens (if you feel compelled to do so!) and whatever strangers, friends, enemies…or remote relatives are willing to jot their thoughts in our journal…well you give them a Tolken of our gratitude!

Yes this may in some small way take cash out of corporate pockets…but it is my belief, that if people love the music they hear…they will eventually want to support it (You guys are proof enough of that!)…which means that eventually even the label that owns these albums will probably profit from our little covert operation. I don’t care if I don’t profit from it. I just want people to hear the music, so that, if they like it, they might be inclined to check out the next one, come to a show, and/or carry a ball around the world!….That way I can keep making more music, playing it live, and (of course) continue to launch wicked little initiatives that poke a few holes in the corporate umbrellas of the world… Plus we can all plan some fabulous events and do a little stage diving for godsakes!!!!!
