I had my first dream in many months last night (Or the first remembered in that time, as we’re all supposed to be having dreams). I dreamed that Jesus and I were drinking coffee in a small, cozy coffee shop. He seemed to be changing his appearance slowly, merging mythical versions with cultural traits. For several moments he was even a Rasta, his head a mass of dreads and his eyes deep and kind.
We had a good long, honest chat, communicating like old friends as the rain pelted the glass wall to my right. At different points we talked with honesty of our feelings about our lives. I talked about how unsure my future seems, my wish to do holy deeds and how I’ve felt betrayed by someone I trusted very much. He poured his heart out about not doing as well as a saviour as he could have. We talked at length about the many troubles of the world and how we see them and their solutions. He gave me some pointers on what not to do, and offered encouragement. It was such an easy and real feeling time, with I even filling my usual role as faithful listener.
Near the end of my dream, as Jesus and I were finishing our cups and preparing to leave, another person walked into the coffee shop. She was drenched by the heavy rain, but radiated beauty. Her dark hair clung to the dark blue rain jacket she wore, and she moved with a casual, light grace that was winsome. She was introduced as his sister and the two soon departed, saying goodbyes and promising to meet again for more cups of coffee.
I have so few dreams, so I’m trying to decode what this one might mean. I’m not a Christian, so the significance of Jesus is not as it would be if I followed that faith. However, my high school nickname was Jesus, and I’ve long been facinated by the saviour archetype, often thinking on it and discovering its personal and global meanings. Does anyone have any ideas for how to interpret this dream?
I’m here alone in my parents’ house. They’ve gone camping for the weekend, so I’ll have the house to myself until Monday evening. I can’t enjoy the quiet, though, as I am a working class holy man, working 14 hour days with none off unless I’m blessed with rain. I’m wishing and dancing for some in the morning.

I printed out your dream. I am the queen of dream interpretation books (that and astrology, lol). I’m exhausted tonite, but i will give it a good deciphering and get back to you by tomorrow.
Well, thank you very much.
dream interpretation…better late than never??
Hi hi! Sorry about the delay. But I went through a couple of different books on this one and they all offer pretty much the same things reegarding your dream. I’ll break it downin pieces for you:
Jesus: There is no religious significance to him in your dreams, instead, he represents the human experience in life. Conflict, temptations, etc. Where life becomes conscious and not just lived, it means a powerful process in your conscious, expressionof your own potential. It is also a warniong of not taking responsibility to try to achieve your own highest ideals and to overcome your anxieties and just live your life the way you want. All the things you discussed are things you want to work on in some way or another in your life. His hopes and fears are your own.
The coffee part: This represents social rituals…friendship, intimacy, what you thirst for or desire…these relate to your consciousness of life, the things you could have been taling to Jesus about in your dream.
Rain & woman: Depressed feelings and difficulties, specifically with a woman who makes you feel extra sensitive, a woman you care for and has the same type of features as the woman you have in your dreams.
My overall interpretation would be hidden feelings for a woman you desire, who you don’t feel good enough about yourself to act upon and you feel hindered. I think it’s all about looking at your subconscious and doing what you need to do to make yourself happy.
Of course, I could be wrong, but 4 different books have the specific interpretations I mentioned. I hope this helped some!

Thanks for taking the time to look all of that up!!
All of what you shared here seems at least partially accurate.
Thanks again for sharing this with me!
It sounds like a VERY meaningful and powerful dream! That’s amazing!
Do you remember the advice he gave you about what not to do? If you do, if you feel that it’s helpful, please keep it in mind. Messages in dreams are often quite significant.
Perhaps the woman signifies how you really only care for inner beauty–usually people that are totally rainsoaked don’t radiate beauty, but you sensed it from her anyway. You are definately the type of person that values inner beauty above outer beauty, so, maybe?
Also, perhaps the images of him changing slowly showing different cultural and mythical traits is a symbol that deep down, all cultures and all people are all interconnected.
It’s so true too. If you compare the myths of totally different areas, you’ll find that there are many similarities. There are even similarities in modern religions that are nothing like each other. I’ve had amazing chats with my Catholic grandma and my Mormon friend, and I’m pagan, and both of them have found a common ground with me and I them. :o)
Thanks for sharing what you thought of it. I do remember the advice given. It was mostly things I would know anyway, just reasserted.
While I do value inner over outer beauty, I generally find rainsoaked, or other simple changes in outward beauty appealing. I’d say I value natural beauty most, whether inner or outer.
I was thinking that he was representing the archetype rather than the specific mythological character. Since he did have a sister, perhaps that should be taken as a sign of that.
I’ve often read about the myths of various cultures and find it facinating when they overlap or share similar themes. Carl Jung’s work with archetypes is something I’ve found to be very rewarding to look into. Though I don’t agree with all his assertions and beliefs, he helped map out the universal links in all myths.
