Factcheck.com is an address that redirects to George Soros . com. George Soros is a billionaire investor and philanthropist, is beginning a nationwide tour this week to talk about how the war in Iraq is making America less safe — and why President Bush should not be re-elected.. Obviously, this is not the sort of website Cheney would like you to be viewing, but his error surely sent many people to a passionately anti-Bush site. Even the site he intened us to view is not all that glowing in its assessment of the Bush administration. Many cases of lies and misleading statements are documented on that site. This is just one more instance of Mr. Cheney not getting his facts straight, even if it’s one of the more innocent of his mistakes.
For the record, Cheney comes across to me as a vile and uncaring person. He emits a great sense of selfishness, anger, arrogance and contempt that are absolutely incompatable with good leadership.
Here’s a story from yesterday that helps to show why giving out proper URL’s is important.
During the debate, Dick Cheney mentioned that you could go to factcheck.com to get the real scoop on Halliburton. What he meant was factcheck.org, a nonpartisan site run by the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania. – Kevin Drum for Washington Monthly

Cheney is the text-book example of a fat-cat bureaucrat, and he disgusts me to no end. These guys really do need to start taking a bit of initiative and stop distorting facts…though i do find it amusing that he named off an anti-bush, anti-iraq website.
Cheney is to evil as Bush is to stupid.
The distorting of facts is what keeps politicians alive. Once caught in one lie they need to keep it up to not look like fools. It’s an interesting cycle.
Maybe that slip up was some sort of conscience breaking through the corruption that is Cheney’s personality. Likely not.
I heard about this story on NPR today. Apparently, factcheck.com was normally a site that hosted ads for encyclopedias and dictionaries. When someone clicks on the links, those companies would have to pay a fee. The companies were complaining about having to pay a large number of fees because of the people Cheney directed to the site. So the owner of the website rerouted them all to George Soro’s website. He and his people claim they had nothing to do with it and were “just as surprised” as the rest of us.
I thought it was a very amusing story.
I wasn’t aware of the encyclopedia and dictionary connection. I think Cheney could use one of both to give to Bush as a Christmas present. I still can’t believe how poor a grasp of language Bush has.
It’s quite an amusing story, and it has a moral worthy of learning.
