Snakey – Awkward Physics

Here’s a scan from a physics text book I used back in high school. I believe Sascha (riboflaven) will remember this one. It seemed a bit oddly worded to us back then.

I’ve been cleaning up a bunch of image files I had stored away and finding quite an assortment.

**I must mention that “snakeys” were basically slinkies.

  1. I’m not sure why your confused by 7. the pulse will reach the end of the slinky and then revert back. basically its asking how many times does a pulse travel.

there is a equation for this but I don’t remember it any more.

  2. Bwahaha! I remember that text book. I couldn’t stop laughing, because it sounded sooooo wrong.

“Grip the snakey firmly with one hand for the entire activity.”

“It is easier to see the motion of the snakey if you are near one end. Don’t watch from the side.”

And of course, my personal favourite:

“This activity is a sensual experience. Each student in the group should take some time on the end of the snakey.”

I’m sorry…but did they just suggest what I think they did? ^_~

    1. Sascha!! Guy! =D It’s been awhile. Vokey, from high school. Get in touch with me, eh? Email or some crazy shit like that.
