The Conservative Pill. It’s a hard one to swallow

Do you lose sleep worrying about the future of Canada under the Martin Liberals? Liberal corruption exhaustion can cost you hours of sleep. But only if you let it. The Right Wing now releases its new drug called the Conservatives.

This newly formulated drug consists of all recycled materials from PC, CCRAP, Alliance and Reform. This revolutionary ideology combines standard opposition rhetoric with foul accusations for opportunism and a quenchless thirst for power. Classified laboratory studies indicate that the Conservatives can provide temporary relief from scandal and corruption until approximately 2 weeks after an election.

Remember, there is no cure for corruption, and even with treatment, corruption can spread. To avoid a potentially serious complication, consult your conscience before inserting the enema if you are poor, gay, from the east coast, a visible minority, francophone or female.

Common side effects are separation anxiety, American war fever, increase in environmental disease due to increase pollution, increased sickness due to lack of healthcare, loss of human rights, moderate bigotry, blindness and/or paralysis of the left side, verbal diarrhea, homophobia, rashes or reddening of the neck and shoulders area, depression and regret, nausea and a general bad taste in your mouth.

  1. You know, maybe this is just the blind crazy of my impertinant youth talking, but I was under the impression that the Canadian government was in power to serve the citizens of Canada, not the big businesses lining their pockets? Just an observation about Stephen “Bloodthirsty Conglomerates Are People, Too!” Harper.

    1. I thought the Canadian government was there to serve politicians and their friends. Maybe that’s just when we have our centrist and right parties in power. Oh how I love Stephen “I love God and Money and Guns and did I mention Money?” Harper.

      1. Oh I do too, isn’t he a peach? I can’t wait for him to send our current government crumbling to the ground after that shameful act of social responsibility they pulled during the budget–please, Stephen Harper! Save us from the big bad liberals! Tie us in with George Bush’s counter-jiihad! Strip me of my right to live autonomously from a religious institution! Demean the relationship I have with my sortof girlfriend! Because damn if guns and money and power aren’t a way to make a difference!

        1. Oh yeah, Harper’s about as far from an asshole as you can get. I mean he’s practically a saint. Well, actually, he may be close to a Roman Catholic one, and when did that church ever do anything like help in the spread of AIDS or support invading Muslem countries?

Cons make me laugh. I made a comment in a politics community saying I view Cons and Despots in about the same light (ending with “At least a despot might come up with good policy now and then”) and they jumped on me, saying I want people like Saddam and Hitler in power, when I’d clearly said Bush, Hitler and Harper are all unsavoury folk. Another Con said something to the effect of “Letting people have same-sex marriages is more important than a government stealing tax payers’ money?” Um… yes, human rights mean a bit more to me than a bit of wasted money. Go figure.

          1. Pff. Human rights are so overrated. Slap me in chains and send me off to work in the kitchen, matey, for I am a woman, and such is my purpose.

Also, isn’t that funny how the examples that twittish conservative pointed out are actually both examples of ultraconservative leaders? Do they even know what the word “conservative” means? It’s like watching American right-wingers sling the word “liberal” around like it’s a curse–I just want to smack them around and say, HELLO! There is no liberal party in the American two-party system! If you want a liberal, look at Canada, we’re goverened by them–and look how much better off we are, for it!

Augh. Canadian politics: always fucking with my zen.

          2. Yeah, and throw me in the goulag for having long hair, because that’s just against God’s will, just like loving someone of the same gender or wanting to have health care, education, food and housing for everyone.

It’s funny how Liberal is misused. Interestingly, Neo-Cons are Neo-Liberals in France (because they liberally spend money, taking a country into debt in order to pump up the kill-hate factor).

In Canada we’re still mostly a two party system. Our centrist party’s just not quite as bad as the Dems (and I truly am thankful for that).

          3. I know! Hail Harper! We must convert and worship the holy dollar, give up love and the environment for the divine rape of our consciences.
