Today I walked downtown and stopped in a shop hoping to find a statue to use as my Project 365 patron. Nataraja Shiva seemed a perfect match.
Nataraja (The King of Dance) is the dancing posture of Hindu god Shiva, who performs his divine dance as a part of divine duties of creation and destruction.
…
Within Lord Shiva’s dancing manifestation is represented not only all of time and space, but also the primal creative force that is beyond the circle of illusion that mortals live within, all movement and vibration of the universe, and the stillness beyond all existence.
– Nataraja
You should see Shiva popping up frequently over the next year as I cut through some illusion.
April’s cat Odette decided to investigate when I placed the statue on the orange rug of our living room.

It’s one of my favourites so far. 🙂
Yay! My kitty made the cut! 😀
This is advice I gave myself-
Once round a rosary or Hindu japamala-one bead per recitation.Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed-or go to a church-not during services- or other holy place.
Breathe deeply and slowly.Follow the breath.Concentrate on a Mantra-how about “Om(as you inhale) Shanti(as you breathe out)”? Thoughts will intrude Just think,”Not wanted”and return to the Mantra.Copy this and display it before you meditate-
The knowledge,through direct experience,
that our innermost Self,
which is the Self of all,
is one with the ultimate reality
beyond transient phenomena.
Such knowledge confers liberation
from rebirth,caused by past actions.
Om
Lead me from the unreal to the real.
Lead me from darkness to light.
Lead me from death to immortality.
Om
Peace be with all beings.
If at home, have flowers in your little shrine and perhaps a statuette of Shiva. You know the one-dancing in a circle of flames.Burn incense-jasmine or patchouli, etc.
