In this month’s issue of Lightspeed magazine there is a charming story by Peter Sursi. “The Seven Samovars” is my favourite fantasy short story published in the magazine during the last few months; it’s an urban fantasy set in a café and involving magical teas and coffee so atmospherically it’s a good fit for me. The sentiment of the story endeared it to me even more than being immersed in its setting.
“This is for when the real work needs to be done, when decisions must be made. Love and Death and Starlight will only take a person so far, you know. Living requires hard work no matter what the drink, and sometimes there’s nothing to do but sit down, have a cup of coffee and talk about it.
“The Seven Samovars” is available both in podcast and text form. The audio version is especially rewarding.
