Next month Nova Scotia’s New Democrats will be voting to select a new party leader and hopefully the next premier of our province. Among the three candidates, I believe Gary Burrill offers the strongest leadership, the deepest intellectual understanding and the fullest compassion. In this interview Gary’s strengths are demonstrated and his personal story shared very clearly. When he talks about the importance of the CCF and NDP socialist tradition in Canada and when he talks of the Christian socialist understanding, his conviction that it is abhorrent that inequality and unnecessary suffering exist rings profoundly true.
The ending of poverty and the fundamental improvement of the situation for our most vulnerable are vital projects and we are fortunate that we have people like Gary working tirelessly to give direction to that work.
