The third novella from Cory Doctorow‘s Radicalized collection is the title story and it’s a standout. The story is built around people facing the terrible reality of for-profit health care and does a superb job of demonstrating how the causes of radicalization can be completely relatable. It’s a great snapshot of how online communities can grow and evolve, and how desperate situations shift people’s perspectives.
Radicalized is a story of a dark web-powered violent uprising against insurance companies told from the perspective of a man desperate to secure funding for an experimental drug that could cure his wife’s terminal cancer.
Like the other novellas, Radicalized is available as a standalone audiobook and in the collection.
An excerpt of the audiobook, which is read by Wil Wheaton, is available on Soundcloud.
