I’ve been working at home today while Celestine recovers from being sick with a fever yesterday. I’ve been using my Pixel 8 in desktop mode to do my work, with a monitor, keyboard, and mouse connected to it with a $10 dock. Most of my work can be done in a browser or through an app, but I can also use a remote desktop connection to my PC at work or my home linux machine to access those things it’s easier to do on a different OS. I’m pleased that I’m able to use one device as a daily driver now. There are some pieces of friction to the experience, but overall it works better than ever before to have a phone be the only device I need with me. I’ve been obsessing a bit about getting a cheap lapdock to make commute and travel work easier and this cements that it’s viable.
Nintendo Music is another delightful surprise from Nintendo this week. I’m hoping the Xenoblade Chronicles soundtracks will be added later, but having a dedicated phone app for playing select soundtracks is nice.
