We flew to Barcelona, leaving Halifax Monday night and arriving Tuesday morning. We were met at the airport by Tonet’s highschool friend. They hadn’t seen each other in person for many years. Emmalyn was a wonderful guide and helped us navigate the city. We were so grateful to have her and her daughter with us each day and they made the visit so much more enjoyable, especially for Celestine, who was so happy to make a new friend with Ehren.

I marveled at the beautiful old apartment buildings in Barcelona. There was a beautiful metal gate door at the apartment building where we visited. Just seeing the many balconies at other buildings was a delight.

One of our first stops was at Los Hermanos, a Filipino restaurant. I had garlic fried rice and lumpiang gulay, standards for me. It was a nice spot.

We got groceries soon after. I was happy to see a good variety of vegan options throughout our stay in Barcelona. It definitely made it easier for me to eat as we traveled around the city and I’d love to see Canada move toward that level of availability.

We soon checked in at our aparthotel, Ona Living Barcelona. After the flight and getting adjusted to our surroundings, we were happy to settle in to a comfortable space for the night.
While abroad, I used an esim from Firsty to stay connected. I was able to turn my phone into a hotspot so Tonet could use data on her phone as well. It was affordable and reliable.
