We visited the Public Gardens yesterday for a family photoshoot and we were distracted for a while by the ducks.

Celestine was so excited to attend this year’s East Coast Kite Festival. Halifax seemed to be full of festivals this weekend.

We saw a new mural by Massiel Piรฑeiro of Mpine Art on an electrical box beside the commons today after the kite festival.

I’m looking forward to spotting new murals commissioned through Halifax Mural Festival over the coming weeks.

I’m listening to the last continuity episode of Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men. It has been my favourite podcast of all time for a long time and I’ve loved experiencing comics through the lenses they have critiqued and cherished them through.

If you haven’t listened to comics’ greatest podcast, you’re in for a wonderful treat when you dive in.

It’s heartbreaking to have this podcast end but I’m so thankful to have had my thinking about comics shaped by these two heroes.

At my work there is the tree by the deck out back that is covered in ripe, edible berries that taste a little like blueberries.

The genus is called saskatoon berry, juneberry, serviceberry, and sugarplum in various places but is called Amelanchier as a genus.

Saskatoon is named for the berry and not the other way around.

Between chores today, I finally sat down to play HeroQuest. I bought the First Light version of the base game a while back so that I could have the smaller board and retire the old, tattered one from my childhood. I used the app to play it solo and enjoyed the thrill of a new adventure.

My heroes survived and the elf was able to upgrade her sword. Hopefully Cloudcry the barbarian, Echostone the dwarf, Melody the elf, and Harmony the wizard will be off on adventure again before long.
