For those of you who weren’t watching the ECMA’s tonight, you missed the amazing Buck 65 singing “Bluejays and Roses” or “Dad”, which is a song about, surprisingly enough, his father. It was nice to see him play that song for his dad, knowing he’d likely be watching.
handler of snakes, killer of drums, thrower of rocks, rhymer of lies
Seeing Buck last night was awasome, as can alwas be expected! The other bands were mediocre… Dionisis, Shine Factory, Scratch Bastard and random bad rapper, and Bucket Truck were all NOTHING compared to Buck 65… he played the standard short set with his band, including the brilliant “Craftmanship”, “Bluejays and Roses”, “Stella”, “Phil” and “Wicked and Weird”(which I would love to see as the first single from his September album). He told some stories and let loose his original and infectious stage presence. Clear mind + vision, this man is the future.
Post-concert I wanted to wait and talk to Buck, but Nathan wasn’t feeling well so we decided to walk home a bit early. On the way out we saw Buck’s drummer and Nathan said “good show”, etc.
I arrived back at the second floor cave and talked to Ashley for a while before going to sleep.
Today I woke up with a call from my folks saying they’d be picking me up shortly… so I ate, showered, cleaned the apartment and called Ashley for a while.
I was back here in Dean around 3 and unpacked my things. It’s an interesting feeling to be back in what was the center of my world for 18 years… A cage and a wilderness growing together. I’ll use this weekend to formulate the future as I walk through the cobwebs of my past life.
Sleep well.
