I’m writing from a library computer, so I will have to make this brief.
My internet access has been disconnected for three days now. The only rational explaination we’ve been able to come up with is that some construction across the street caused the line or internet box near our building to be disturbed. Sadly, the response from our ISP has been very bad, as they will not even look into the problem until well into next week.
Obviously this is distressing to me, not only because it cuts off my main means of communication, but also because it endangers a job I recently was offered, which requires internet access. The fates surely have not been smiling upon me since Tuesday.
I’ve been reading and working on what I am able to without access to the net. It’s been difficult to not be able to talk with many people, and to be cut off from information I consider important to have access to. I hope to return soon, but I can’t hold much hope considering the situation I find myself in.

I might be able to help you out. Phone me when you get the chance?
I’ll try to phone you later today. My minutes are near-maxed though.
Please don’t tell me your ISP is Aliant. If so, you’re shit out of luck buddy. Otherwise, give a call to the main office (not your local one, obviously), and speak to the head guy, if possible. They should be able to get you rolling, especially if you threaten to switch to another ISP after being disgusted with the way they handle business. ^_^ That’s what I did to get my internet fixed, along with 3 months free.
It’s Eastlink, but I believe they use Alliant lines. I will likely contact someone again soon to press them to act.
You’re in my thoughts, Apollo. I’ll cross all my fingers for you. Try to stay positive. There is always a way, and I’m sure you’ll find it.
Thanks. I hope you’re right.
Oh, I’ve been trying. She’s a very busy person, so it’s been hard. The work itself is what requires internet access, about 30 hours of it, sadly.
I miss you too. I hope I will be back next week. I’m in a mall using public access for a while.
I’m hoping you get this resolved soon. I was without internet service for 2 months last summer and i thought i would die!
My provider ended up telling me that my DSL was so old that they needed to replace all the lines in my alley to upgrade it, and i would have to pay for it!
I told them where to shove it and called the cable company for a broadband connection, which i love.
No matter, it sucks that this has happened now, with the job on the line and everything. Good luck! 🙂
The internet should be back up this afternoon. Apparantly we were disconnected by mistake. It’s shitty a simple clerical error was to blame for all this, and really makes me doubt this company’s ability to provide me with service in the future.
