Ian Penn’s Lipstick Traces is another beautiful collection of folk songs, but it’s more than that. There’s more of a pop sensibility to some tracks than on his recent albums and the closing track, “Double Rainbow In Silay”, is a refreshingly experimental instrumental track. The first three tracks, released ahead of the album as singles, are particularly prone to getting stuck in my head.
