The card not shown but at the center of the cross, represents the core or central issue of the situation. Two of Wands – Dominion: Fire in its highest form. Energy initiating a current of force. Harmony of rule and justice. Influence over another. Boldness, courage, fierceness. Success, wealth and power are negated by sadness. Possible sense of failure and physical or mental suffering. Decisive and courageous action is needed. May also indicate clairvoyance.

The card visible at the center of the cross represents the atmosphere surrounding the central issue, a force supporting it, or an element in collision with it. Five of Pentacles – Worry: Intense strain and continued inaction. Monetary anxiety. Suffering, loneliness, and the need for comfort and spiritual guidance. Drinking, wasteful spending, and personal problems. Fear of financial ruin becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The card at the top of the cross represents a shallow level of awareness or surface appearance. Seven of Swords – Futility, when reversed: A desperate chance to overcome the impossible. A hole or temporary failing in an in otherwise insurmountable obstacle. An opportunity to withdraw from a hopeless situation and fight another day. Disengagement from a struggle you should never have been involved in.

The card at the bottom of the cross represents a deeper level of understanding or underlying meaning. Four of Swords – Truce, when reversed: Restlessness, procrastination, disharmony. There is a definite need for wise decisions and careful action.

The card at the left of the cross represents the past or things to be released. Three of Swords – Sorrow: Inability to deal with past sorrows. Turmoil, confusion, and depression. Sowing of discord and strife. Delay. Indicates division within a relationship. Mental control overwhelmed by emotion.

The card at the right of the cross represents the future or things to be embraced. The Hanged Man: Adjusting to new ideas through self-sacrifice. Intuition and psychic awareness come about by letting go of past patterns and growing beyond them. Inner peace, faith, and admirable sacrifices.

The card at the base of the staff represents you and your role in the situation. Knight of Wands, when reversed: Superficial, theatrical, shallow, false, cruel, unreliable, faithless, domineering person. May also indicate indecision and the instability that accompanies it.

The card second from the bottom of the staff represents the person, group, or environment that you are interacting with. Nine of Swords – Cruelty, when reversed: Agony or ill health endured and overcome. Fury harnessed to combat tyranny. Refusal to be dragged down by the hate and dishonor of others. Obedience, faithfulness, patience and unselfishness.

The card second from the top of the staff represents hopes, fears, or an unexpected element that will come into play. Knight of Cups: The earthy part of Water: A young person, infinitely gracious, all sweetness, voluptuousness, gentleness, kindness, romantic and dreamy. May indicate the beginning of a creative or business project, possibly the birth of a child.

The card at the top of the staff represents the ultimate outcome of the situation. Three of Cups – Abundance: The spiritual basis of fertility. Plenty, hospitality, pleasure, and sensuality. Passive success. Kindness, comfort, healing, and relief from anxiety. Celebration and good fortune.

        1. Yeah, I don’t believe in it much either. I do have my own set of runes, but I usually just do it as a way to reflect on things, rather than as any telling of how things are thatI don’t already know.
