Buck speaks:
*****
Lovers of all kinds,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I’m feelin’ a little run
over myself, but frig it. I just finished another trip to hell and
back.
I’m here to tell you the tale.
First of all, let me advise you to check out the newest records by
Neco Case and Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy.
I did a show in London, Ontario and received a gift of bacon from
an admirer. I reckon two pounds worth. Good stuff. That’s what I
like to see. London, you’re solid gold.
In Montreal I ran into my old pals Sixtoo and Kid Koala. Always
good to see a familiar face. It’s a nice bonus when those faces
are smiling. Let’s all congratulate Sixtoo on his recent signing to
NinjaTune. Way to go there, FlabbyTits.
In Ottawa my ace Wyatt hooked me up with some bootleg John
Cassevettes material. Just try to top that! Lots of good friends in
Ottawa too. The nation’s capital! I’m a rich man.
By the time I reached Toronto, I hadn’t slept in a few days. I’d
been living on Boost. I wouldn’t advise it. I spread my face
around enough to make my own grandparents sick, I’m sure.
Sorry.
Today I was watching the video for ‘Sunglasses at Night’ by Cory
Hart and noticed that he looks exactly like my brother. Strange…
Hamilton! Big Smoke! Don’t take any crap off ’em. Dare I say, I
killed it in Hamilton.
Next I’m off to shoot a video for one of the parts of Square One.
You know the part that goes, ‘From storm clouds come angels…’
That part. It’s going to be beautiful. I’m psyched. Give it a couple
of months. You’ll see.
Then I’m off to the UK for my tour with Blackalicious which
promices to be fattening. I’ll bring my video camera with me and
keep it rolling.
Good things cookin’ all over the world, brothers and sisters.
Miracles happen. If I can spin the big wheel, surely you can too.
Write it down y’all. Keep your hands busy. I’m not a kid anymore. I
promice I won’t let you down or steer you wrong.
Check out the Russian novelists. Try a little Pushkin. Don’t be
shy. Lend Noam Chomsky an ear. Don’t count Godard out yet.
Keep your gloves up. I’ll be here…
Buck
