Moore

I’d just like to say that Michael Moore is one of my personal heros.

You should all check out his message from this week, watch Bowling For Columbine and read Stupid White Men.

  1. i’ve been dying to see Bowling for Columbine. they pushed back the release date at Blockbuster, and now i have no idea where to find it! i have read several passages from Stupid White Men and i have yet to find something he says that i disagree with. =) anyway, thanks for the recommendations. it’s a good idea to spread that kind of message.

    1. i’m reading it right now…but find it hard to…pin down actually what its about…because its about so many different things…basically its about the united states…and what a mess their society is in…its a social commentary…pointing out a lot of things that are wrong with the united states…and using a lot of good evidence to back up what he’s saying…erm..lets see what i can find online…

      one site says:

Michael Moore is America’s favourite thorn in the side, a social commentator with a vicious bite. In “Stupid White Men”, Moore provides a much-needed alternative to the steady let’s-line-up-behind-the-president drumbeat of today’s commentators.

      and another says:

More social commentary from famously glib liberal Michael Moore, author of ROGER & ME. His unique takes on politicians, businessmen, and other power players who have put us in the mess we in are delivered in his oh-my-gosh! wiseguy style. Targets here include George W. Bush and the people around him, Bill Clinton, the Supreme Court, the media, and, ultimately, mediocrity.

  2. yes sir 😛

    heheh

i’d already checked out his message when i saw your post

i went and saw bowling for columbine again last thursday

…and i’m in the process of reading stupid white men…

    😀

      1. Like I honestly try to see where he is coming from, but when he rants like he did Oscar night, I just can’t find it in me to respect the guy. Plus reading his website makes him sound really arrogant IMO. I try to stay really neutral on political subjects, but it seems to me that Moore is just blatantly closing his ears to anything he doesn’t want to hear, much like others on the opposite political party as him do. I can’t come to an opinion about the things he does because I don’t have enough information about these things. And sometimes I don’t think even he does, because I don’t think anyone does. I love America for all the freedoms she brings us, so I can’t sit here and dictate the way he should think, or you or anyone. I think when people procalim their “pro-peace” it’s sort of like saying everyone else is not. Which is untrue. Of course there are “anti-peace” people in the world, but most people are all pro-peace and against wars. I think those who support military action are saying “I don’t want a war, but I think there is purpose to take action.” Because I honestly believe, that even Bush is opposed to war, but felt it was necissary for whatever reasons he gave us. I can’t change the world around me, but I respect those who think they can. And for that purpose I’m not going to say if I’m for or against anything I can’t alter. Anyways, after that tangent I just have to say that it would be interesting to see what would happen if the academy actually took away his award.

        1. I agree that no one can know everything, but there are undoubtedly injuctices in the world that we have to combat when we see them.

I certainly could never support this war for many reasons, including a lack of a coherent one from the administrations involved.

From what I’ve learned of Moore he may have a bit of arrogance, but so does anyone who believes they can make a real difference in any way. Many things he has been vocal about have been quite obvious to me before he pointed them out anyway. The whole “America is scared” deal has always been in our faces, especially during the Cold War.

What Moore does is gives a voice to the concerns many of us already have. Yes, he may be a bit arrogant, but in the end we need that to effect real change.
